All Cultures are Welcome

STUDENTS' DIFFERENT CULTURES MAKE ICHS AN INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY

The staff and teachers at International Community High School recognize the importance of including students' cultures into the classroom. Teachers use the home language of students to help support their learning, but the inclusion of other parts of students' cultures is also fundamental to establishing a welcoming and safe environment for students. Research has also demonstrated that including students' cultures into the learning process is a way to improve how well students learn as well as a way to make the classroom more equitable. Staff and teachers at ICHS practice culturally-responsive methods in their lessons, in communicating with students, and in responding to students' issues in order to create the best learning environment in and out of the classroom.
